I used to bike to school and back (approx 12km) but got lazy once I received my drivers licence.

But seriously, If I have to drive my bike 2 work now (about 10km) I don't think I'll live to see the 1st 2kms lol. Minibus Taxis here have no regard for the traffic rules at all, driving on the curbs, ignoring stops streets and red robots, stopping wherever / whenever they feel like it 2 pick up / drop off passengers, ect.

If I survive that, there's the industrial area I have to go through next... Big trucks & stuff that'll squish u in an instant... As well as the tonnes of MCV's around here, busy with the Gautrain's construction. Don't think those big ol' trucks will see little bike...

And after all THAT (lol), I have to hope that no-one mugs me.

AND after all the [email protected] I just typed here, my final answer would still be NO for driving my bike to work
I work in a suit & tie everyday and I'm used to my sound blaring in the airconned car on my way 2 work...

^ QFT. Especially the part about suit and tie.

It would be different if roads, people, etc. were more bike friendly. Then distance wouldn't matter so much. But it's really just too dangerous.

Off topic - I need some lunch.

yes biking to work in the usa is not very...uhm friendly for the most part---roads dont allow bikes, neighborhoods you would need to go thru as the alternative route may not be safe for pedestrian type traffic (heck some arent safe to drive thru either--)....and the usa is one HUGE place ---unless you live in a big city and work close to your office, biking isnt really an option.

when I lived in japan I took the trains/subways/buses---I didnt get an international drivers license and since I was placed in Nagoya it wasnt necessary either----there were only a few times I wished that I had had a car (like the time I almost missed the only train out of a place that I had stopped to site-see in....I took the wrong bus and had to run a bunch of kilometers with my back pack---and I am NOT in good athletic shape mind you---when I got to the train the people at the station we all asking me if I was ok---my face was beet red and I was so out of breath that when I got on the train I couldnt breathe for the better part of the trip! it was about an hour....)...yep would liked to have had a car that time----or the time I decided that the fastest way to get back from the place I was was the direct route----which I found out was OVER a mountain hubby wasnt impressed with my boy scout skills that day-----

I digress .

inothernews.....dumb doctor calls back and wants to do another expensive test on me--on my gallbladder....uhm the last test came back negative, why are we continuing on with this line of testing then?????????????????
so I got mad at the nurse who wants me to come back in for another useless waste of my time (and money) to talk to the doctor about this since my last visit they didnt schedule for me coming in for 2 problems....uhm your scheduler did that mess not me, and I will not come back in or have another thousand dollar test that comes back negative.....(for the record my gallbladder is just fine thanks....the problem is on the other side).....so I have yet again given up on western medicine and am going to see a different doc on friday (talked to her already and she thinks she already has a good idea what my problem is ---yippeeeeee...might actually get this solved!)

dumb american doctors.....it seems that whatever seems to be the big trend of the year is what everyone has.....last year was the year of the bipolar, this year is the year of the gallbladder!

sorry about your strange doctor azzer....I dont think I want to see him either, I would really like to get this resolved soon --

strains and sprains, not me...now bruises...I can get one from sleeping in my nice soft bed with lots of fluffy pillows and nothing harder than a stuffed toy near me (and yes I have woken up and found a new bruise on my arm or leg and wondered 'how did I get that?' quite often.)

the only thing I have broken (besides my nose--at 18 months--tripped into a table, took my parents 14 years to figure out it was broken)...was a bone in my foot from a stress fracture------from TOO MUCH WALKING....this while I was in japan and the only way for me to get places was by walking...doc says dont walk on it, I say I have to work, doc replies...dont walk on it much....I say how much is much???? we left it at that...still gets red occasionally (and now the other foot hurts instead....my body does stuff like that...hurt my right wrist one week and a while later the left one starts to complain ).

Wow I missed alot since I have been gone for 14 hours... Worked today from 6-2:30 as usual. Moved in 5 rooms and 42 computers and monitors. At about 11:30 I got a call from one of the teachers asking if I could help with some hay. So I helped stack hay from 2:45-7:15... so another 4 and a half hours. And I have to work tomorrow like normal and then told her I coudl come help her and her son bail some hay. It's suppose to be hot tomorrow though so I'm gonna sweet through my clothes, again. But meh... 2 paychecks tomorrow so yay!

I haven't broken anything. Hurt my knee but we don't know what was wrong with it and that is about the worse injury I have had besides my 2 surgeries.

Yup yup.

I've been re-watching Band of Brothers again a lot lately, man what a great series. Spot a lot of "before they were famous actors" in it as well, like that guy from Wanted and The last king of Scotland.

I heard that Hanks and Spielberg are making a second series, base on the Pacific war with Japan this time. Should be good.

Not helping my teacher azzer, helping A teacher who I know from my job. (I work in a school) She is a friend of my moms.

I'm pretty exhausted and can feel my allergies want to start acting up because the stuff we were stacking was extremely dusty... so ya I am tired and a lil stuffed up.

Band of Brothers is an amazing series. I am not sure if I want a second series though... It may ruin it tbh...

Off to work, 2 works actually. Regular work then bailing. Yeehaw

As far as the broken parts conversation goes, I've broken my arm. Was not fun considering I was in 1st grade. Kinda bent it a little farther back behind my head than you should.

As far as the clumsy conversation goes, I ran into the edge of a signpost, ran into the fridge when I was little, fell down the stairs when I was little, and other clumsy things, though I don't trip over my own 2 feet like some people I know.

@cosy, hope you get better and find a good doctor. I gotta go back to the doctor about my foot. Had an ingrown toenail that needed to be fixed (sorry if I gross someone out, not telling what it is if you don't know so as not to gross you out).
